My teeth and gums are very sensitive. Most of the time I suffer from tooth ache. During last few days I was suffering from severe ache in my jaws due to tooth decay. At present I am going through root canal in my right side bottom tooth, very painful. This is the condition of my teeth. Is it a cause of diabetes? One of my above tooth is also need extraction. I brush my teeth regularly twice a day and also clean my tongue, but still I am suffering from bad breath. I feel very embarrassing. Please suggest what type of care and prevention I should take in future to save my teeth.

Hello mam, thanks for your query. Well diabetes has deletrious effects on many organs and oral structure is one of them. It is associated with bone loss and gums problems and the best treatment is to maintain good oral hygiene and keep check on raised sugar level. We'll go for proper professional cleaning twice a year. Eat lots of fuits and drink good amount of fluids daily to maintain proper hydration of your body. These are few steps by which you can maintain your oral hygiene properly. Diet and regular cleaning is main part of your treatment. Regarding tooth decay you have to go for root canal procedure for that. It's painless now a days but in some conditions where infection is very severe, anesthesia doesn't work properly. So you might have to bear that discomfort. I hope my suggestion will be fruitful to you. Thanks and regards.
