Is there any tooth treatment and repair process for cavities apart from the conventional drilling and filling? Is it available in India?

Is there any tooth treatment and repair process for cavities apart from the conventional drilling and filling? Is it ...
Hello mam thanks for your query. Well it depends on the stage of cavity if it's in a very initial stage it can be reversed with the use of flouridated tooth paste but in advance stages there is no other option but to drill and remove the decayed portion and fill it with suitable filling material. Even in abroad as of now only this is the option to treat cavities.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user thanks for your query. Well tooth discoloration can arise due to many reasons such as trauma during the developmental stage or some medications that are contraindicated in pregnancy. Well at this stage no treatment is recommended because it's very difficult to many kids at this age. But I would suggest you to keep in regular touch with your dentist and keep this under observation. Thanks and regards.

Hello lybrate-user, thanks for your query. Well have you ever wonder why we call wisdom tooth wisdom, because it comes at age, at which person has gain wisdom. Well you will surprise to know that in most of people this tooth serves no function at all. It's like a vestigial organ just like apendix so if it's causing problem get it removed. It might damage adjacent teeth which will cause you more problem. So get it removed once for all and the best part is unlike other tooth you need not to replace it. It won't effect your jaw structure. Taking antibiotics might develop resistance in your body, so don't misuse drugs as it might harm you in your future life. I hope my suggestion would help you and soon you will get rid of your wisdom teeth. Thanks and regards.

Hi, I am 32 years old female. I had oral submucosa fibrosis for two yr. Last year in June it was operated by buccal pad reconstruction. The doctor removed the left side lower wisdom tooth and the second molar also. I had all impacted wisdom tooth. In August 2016 I was asked to open the mouth forcefully and continue exercises. The mouth opening was increased a lot, like 1.5 cm to 3.3 cm. Under general anesthesia. But it is still not stabilized yet. The rest of the upper wisdom teeth were removed last month as they suddenly came out in bad way. But the second molar in the upper left side is pressing / biting the gum a big way. It has produced a huge wound and a lump of gum tissue in the wisdom tooth area. My doctor grinded that tooth several times but failed. Please suggest something. I am taking mouthwash daily and Kenacort ointment. Should I go for the tooth extraction?

BDS, Certified Endodontics
Dentist, Delhi
Hello mam, thanks for your query. Well your second molar is hitting the lower gum because it has not counterpart, as your lower second molar is already extracted. This will keep on happening periodically as tooth continues to move down untill it meet any stop. This condition is known as supraeruption. Remedy for this is replacement or lower second molar or extraction of upper second molar. But better treatment option can be suggested only after clinical evaluation. So ask your dentist to give you proper guidance for the same. I hope my suggestion will help you to get rid of this problem. Thanks and regards.

Hello there, thanks for your query. Well you can take painkiller for that. But be cautioned if you have any systemic condition like asthma or gastritis then medication need to be changed. Although paracetamol is the safest option that you could have in case of emergency. Thanks and regards.

At present I am going through root canal in my right side bottom tooth, very painful. This is the condition of my teeth. Is it a cause of diabetes? One of my above tooth is also need extraction. I brush my teeth regularly twice a day and also clean my tongue, but still I am suffering from bad breath. I feel very embarrassing. Hello mam, thanks for your query. Well diabetes has deletrious effects on many organs and oral structure is one of them. It is associated with bone loss and gums problems and the best treatment is to maintain good oral hygiene and keep check on raised sugar level. We'll go for proper professional cleaning twice a year. Eat lots of fuits and drink good amount of fluids daily to maintain proper hydration of your body. These are few steps by which you can maintain your oral hygiene properly. Diet and regular cleaning is main part of your treatment. Regarding tooth decay you have to go for root canal procedure for that. It's painless now a days but in some conditions where infection is very severe, anesthesia doesn't work properly. So you might have to bear that discomfort. I hope my suggestion will be fruitful to you. Thanks and regards.

I'm facing cavities issue. It is mostly due to less saliva generation in the mouth. I had previously consulted one doctor and he just confirmed it but had no solution for it. I do not smoke or chew tobacco. I've no other disease or under any medication. I was NEVER treated with chemo. As far as I remember I'm facing this issue from at last 7 yrs. Do you have any suggestion on this? PS- I do take good care of oral hygiene (brush 2ce, floss, mouthwash - non-alcoholic)

Hello lybrate-user, thanks for your query. Well you seems to be suffering from condition known as xerostomia in which there is reduced salivary flow which in turn causes other proplems like cavities. Well there are salivary substitutes in market easily available in chemist shop. They help you to maintain proper hydration of your mouth. In addition to that you can counteract this condition by altering your diet. Eat lot of friuts drink good amount of water and avoid anything very spicy and alcoholic. I hope this would help you. Thanks and regards.
