Athlete's foot is an infection of the skin caused by a fungus, and is also known as tinea pedis. It is contagious and usually starts between the toes and extends up to various parts of the body, including palms and the groin. This infection gives rise to various symptoms such as scaly red rashes, foot itching, pain, dryness and scaling on the soles. It may also develop into ulcers and blisters.
