Angina is a condition in which you feel chest pain or stiffness due to decreased blood supply to an area of the heart muscle. This condition gives rise to squeezing, burning or aching sensations across the chest, that usually start behind the breastbone. The sensations spread to other parts as well like neck, jaw, arms, shoulders, throat, back or even the teeth. High cholesterol levels, obesity, tobacco smoking and hypertension increase the risk of angina.
HOW IS ANGINA DIAGNOSED?
Atherosclerosis, which is the buildup of plaque around the artery wall, is the most common cause of angina.
