Home Remedies For Hair Fall: Procedure, Recovery, Risk & Complication

What is the remedy about?

Hair fall is normal and it happens to everyone. However, excessive hair fall and baldness is irregular. In order to seek treatment, you must find out the underlying cause. The causes of hair fall could be heredity, hormonal changes like pregnancy or menopause, certain medicines, chemicals, severe illnesses and harmful hair products or harsh shampoo. In most cases, with the help of treatment and healthy lifestyle changes, it is possible to remedy hair fall. It is important to identify irregular hair fall as soon as possible so that treatment can be effective.

Here are a few home remedies that can help treat hair fall and enhance hair growth:

  • Amla (Gooseberry) oil: Amla contains vitamin D and it has anti-inflammatory properties. This home remedy strengthens the hair follicles, scalp and keeps hair fall in check. To make this remedy, boil half a cup of coconut oil and add three dried Amlas to it. Take this mixture off the gas and let it cool down. Massage this oil on to your scalp and leave it on for half an hour. Then wash it out and shampoo your hair. You can also use a paste of Amla powder and lime juice, instead. Use this remedy twice a week.
  • Onion juice: The anti-bacterial properties and sulfur content of onions help to strengthen hair as well as boost hair growth. To make this remedy simply peel, cut and grate an onion. Then strain out the juice of the grated onion. You can either apply this juice directly or add a spoon of olive oil to it. Massage the juice onto your scalp and leave it on, for around half an hour. Then shampoo your hair thoroughly. Repeat this process twice a week.
  • Aloe Vera juice or gel: Aloe vera promotes healthy growth of hair and also normalizes pH levels of the scalp. Apply either Aloe vera juice or gel to your hair twice a week, before you shampoo it. You can use this remedy twice or thrice a week.

Are there any side effects?

There are a few side effects for using the home remedies for hair fall. Although, these side effects are minor and do not affect most people. A few people experience an allergic reaction to both amla and aloe vera, which can lead to skin irritation or rashes. If you keep either amla or aloe vera, for too long on your scalp, it can cause you to develop a runny nose, cold and dry out your scalp. Using onion in excess on your scalp can give it a bad odor.

What are the post-remedy guidelines?

Here are a few post-remedy guidelines that you should follow along with the home remedies for hair fall:

  • Avoid harsh, strong hair products and hair styling products. This can lead to hair loss. Use a gentle baby shampoo instead. It is advisable to avoid using a straightener, hair curlers, blow dryers and hair color.
  • You should keep your hair clean. Wash it regularly, every alternative day but only with gentle hair products. Pat your hair dry, rather than rubbing it with a towel.
  • It is important to eat healthily, drink lots of water and follow a healthy lifestyle pattern. This can help you to maintain a regular hair growth cycle.

How long does it take to recover?

These home remedies should take effect within two or three weeks. Your hair will be strengthened and hair growth should improve. If excessive hair fall continues for more than two weeks, you should seek medical consultation immediately.

Are the results of the remedy permanent?

These home remedies are efficient in boosting hair growth and decreasing hair fall. However, it is not certain to eliminate excessive hair fall. If hair fall is due to a serious underlying condition then the results of these remedies may not be permanent.

5 Ways to Stop Hair Loss Naturally!
5 horrible things you do to your hair everyday Hair today, gone tomorrow. That might be your condition if you are not taking care of your hair properly. There are a lot of things you do almost daily that are adversely impacting your hair health. You might not even be aware of the damage you are doing to your tresses by indulging these activities. Read on to find out about the 5 worst things you do to your hair on a daily basis. 1. Excessive hair brushing: Here s why brushing your hair excessively is bad for your hair: it causes breakage and strips your hair of its natural nourishing oils. To avoid this, try limiting the use of your hair brush to about just two times in a day. Brushing right after you wake up is a good idea, as it helps in distributing the oils produced by your scalp down your hair shaft, which act as a natural conditioner for your hair. 2. Tying your hair in a ponytail everyday: If you tie your hair in a ponytail everyday then chances are you are applying consistent pressure to on the same hair shafts, resulting in brittle and weaker hair. In fact, doing so continuously can even retard hair growth. Try to leave it open as much as you can, but if you absolutely must tie a pony tail, then tie a loose one. Maybe even use booby pins to keep your hair in place instead of scrunchies. Alternating between high and low ponytails helps too. 3. Using a pre-used hairbrush: Your hairbrush contains a lot of germs, which can severely damage your hair. Using an unclean brush is one of the main reasons of damage hair, as these brushes contain dirt gathered from your hair which you re giving back to your hair by using. It s best to clean it once in a while to maintain proper hair health. The same holds true for other styling agents such as combs, curlers, rollers, straighteners etc. 4. Delaying a hair cut: Most of us are guilty of this crime. What with your jam-packed schedule and work overload, you often ignore that much needed trip to the salon. Prolonging a haircut is never a good idea as it can lead to a bad case of split ends, which can result in hair that tangles a lot and causes hair fall. Regular trimming sessions, once every 6 weeks, are a must. 5. Shampooing in excess: Some of you prefer your scalp to be squeaky clean every single day, believing that daily dust and pollution require you to indulge in this unhealthy habit. Well, it s best to stop right now as you re harming your hair by shampooing daily. Daily shampoos can completely strip your hair of its natural oils, causing your scalp to become dry, leaving your hair with a dry, messy and rough feel. However. Delaying hair wash is not good either. It is best to shampoo whenever your hair feels greasy and dirty. Avoid doing these to your hair, and let your tresses breathe so that they look healthy and shine with a natural glow.

6 Home Remedies To Prevent Hair Fall!
Men and women alike dread the thought of hairfall. For most of us, this is an age related problem, but for others it could also be a sign of an unhealthy lifestyle. Thankfully, there are many home remedies that are effective ways to treat hair fall. Onion juice: The sulphur present in onion can help reduce hairfall and speed up the hair growth process by increasing the production of collagen in the body. Chop or grate an onion and squeeze out the juice. Apply this to your scalp and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing off with a mild shampoo. Ideally, this should be repeated twice a week. Garlic: Garlic is also a rich source of sulphur, but it cannot be used in its pure form. Boil a little coconut oil with a few crushed cloves of garlic. Massage the cooled mixture into your scalp and leave for about half an hour before washing it off. You could combine this with onion juice as well. Coconut: Coconut oil is very good for the hair as it can promote hair growth as well as reduce breakage and prevent hair fall. If you are using bottled coconut oil, warm it before massaging into the scalp. Alternatively, grate a coconut and mix with a little water before squeezing out the milk from it. Apply this on the scalp and leave overnight. Amla: Amla or the Indian gooseberry is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. This helps keep the scalp healthy and promotes hair growth. To benefit from it, apply a mixture of lemon juice and amla juice or amla powder on the scalp. Once dry, rinse the mixture off with luke warm water. If used in the initial stages of hair fall, amla can help reverse the process. Fenugreek: Fenugreek contains hormone antecedents that help stimulate hair growth and help strengthen hair follicles. Soak a cup of dried fenugreek seeds in water overnight and grind into a paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and leave for about half an hour before rinsing off. Using this hair mask every morning for a month should have noticeable results. Aloe Vera: The enzymes in aloe vera promote healthy hair and help stabilise the scalp s pH levels thereby promoting hair growth. It can also help reduce itchiness and dandruff. To benefit from it, you could consume a tablespoon of aloe vera juice or apply aloe vera juice directly onto the scalp as a hair mask.

Hair Fall Treatment - 7 Remedies That Work!
Are you suffering from hair loss? Don't just blame your genes for that. A plethora of reasons ranging from hormonal imbalance to thyroid or nutritional deficiency can lead to hair loss. Hair fall and baldness can hamper your self-confidence and push you to a pessimistic and gloomy world of hopelessness. Your hair is the x-factor that influences your personality and sets you apart from others. But, what should you do to tackle hair loss and boost hair growth? Well, there are several ways to get rid of this problem. There are several home based remedies to stop hair fall and enhance growth of hair. Some of these remedies have been listed below: Fenugreek: You might be surprised to know that the seeds of fenugreek contain hormone antecedents. These help in repair of hair follicles. The seeds are also rich in nicotinic acid that promotes growth of hair. Fenugreek seeds should be soaked in water overnight and then make a paste by grinding them. This paste should be applied on the scalp and left for about 30 minutes. The paste should then be rinsed off with only water, avoid application of shampoo or any other cleaning agent. Aloe Vera: It is a very useful home remedy in tackling issues related to the hair. It helps in maintain and restoring the pH balance of the scalp. It has a slightly alkaline property. Gel formed out of aloe vera is also helpful in getting rid of dandruff. The gel should be applied to the scalp for 45 minutes and then washed with water. This treatment must be followed for at least twice or thrice a week for best results. Oil massage: Insufficient supply of nutrients to the hair can lead to loss of hair. Therefore, it is always a wise idea to massage the scalp with hot oil to provide enough nutrients to the scalp and improve the flow of blood in the head. It is usually recommended to massage the scalp and hair strands with oil rich in vitamin E, such as olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil for 45 minutes. Thereafter, you can wash away the excess oil by applying shampoo. Coconut milk: It is rich in fats and proteins. It helps in the growth of hair and prevents loss. For best results, grind the coconut pulp to get milk out of it and then apply it to the scalp and hairs. Leave the milk for over 30 minutes and then wash it off with shampoo for preventing thinning of hairs. Diet plan: You need to take care of your diet first in order to add volume to your hairs. Include vegetables rich in iodine like nori, dulse, kombu and wakame in your meals. Iodine helps in proper functioning of the thyroid gland and quite essential for healthy hair. Fatty acids are also essential for hair growth. It is advised to consume adequate amounts of nuts, fish and avocados for healthy hairs. Lifestyle Changes- Along with a healthy hair diet, it is important that you exercise properly as it will ensure that there is proper blood flow to your scalp and will help in the growth of hair. Treat your hair delicately. Avoid unnecessary brushing, combing or handling. Use a soft, round bristles brush. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair. Avoid Stress as it is the major cause of hair loss.

Am 17 years, I have a problem of thinning of hair and hair fall from a long time, I am doing excess masturbation from almost 5 years and 3-4 times a day. Is this the cause? If so what should I do to get my natural and healthy hairs back? But my father has also lost some of his hair. So can it be hereditary? Which test should I do to know the exact reason of my hairloss?

Masturbation has no relation to hairloss. You may be suffering from androgenic alopecia which is also called as pattern baldness. The hairs start reducing in density at the crown (top) and also the hairline starts refeeding from the front. This is usually progressive throughout life unless treated. This may also be accompanied by severe dandruff. The FDA approved treatment for this condition is a lotion and tablets. There is no other alternative. No oil or cream will magically work because the hairs are getting miniaturised and eventually disappearing due to the hormonal effects on the hair roots. Along with this, you can also consider platelet rich plasma therapy for faster results. Please call me or contact me with photos using online consult option for proper examination and treatment. Do not start treatment without consulting. I can give guidance and then you can continue treatment on your own.
