Glowing Skin: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

Last Updated: Apr 20, 2024

What is the treatment?

No matter what your skin type is, healthy skin emanates a natural glow. However, when the skin is not healthy or taken care of well enough, then it can look dull and lifeless. This can affect your natural pallor and even make you look unwell. Fortunately, there are many ways to bring back the natural lustre of your skin, and most of the treatments are fairly easy to employ all by yourself. The treatment or the products you must use will depend largely on your skin type and the reason why it looks so dull.

There are many treatment options available to help you restore your glowing skin. In order to know what kinds of products you should use, you should first assess the problems faced by your skin. If your skin is looking dull due to acne and its scars, you can treat your skin with facewash that is designed specifically for acne prone skin. There are also various ointments and creams that can be used to treat your skin.

If your skin is looking dull because of dryness, you can always get moisturizers and lotions in order to quench your skin’s thirst. Once your skin begins to feel hydrated, it will also look hydrated and begin to glow. Skin oils and masks are also items that can be used to treat your skin and restore its glow.

How is the treatment done?

Once you have figured out why your skin looks dull, you can begin to treat it accordingly. If you are having trouble identifying the cause of the dullness, then you can visit a dermatologist or a skin care clinic to let professionals have a look at it. They can help you understand your skin’s needs so that you can treat it in an effective manner.

Skin oils or face oils are one of the most popular ways today to make your skin glow. Enriched with minerals and vitamins, these oils can be massaged into your skin to restore its health and make it glow. Over time, as your skin soaks in the nutrients, you will need to use it lesser. Face oils can be used as per your convenience, either during the day or night, or when you travel. Moisturizers and lotions that are rich in Vitamin E are also great for your skin as they hydrate it and make it softer. If your skin is dull because it’s dry, then these treatment options will suit you the most.

If your skin is dull due to acne, using anti acne treatments can help you. There are many face washes that are rich in ingredients such as neem and astringents and are great for acne prone skin and oily skin. Face peel masks and mud packs are great for exfoliating your skin and pushing in important nutrients respectively.

Dull skin can also occur due to harmful pollutants in the environment. They attack the skin, making it look unhealthy and parched. Using protective products such as creams rich in SPF can help shield your skin from pollutants. You can also use a cleanser or toner at the end of the day to pull out the dirt and grime from the day.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

If you are concerned about the way your skin looks, you should seek out treatment.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

If you are allergic to certain products or ingredients, then you may not be able to use certain treatments to make your skin glow.

Are there any side effects?

Some products can cause side effects such as a rash, itching, or burning sensation. Performing a patch test is the best way to determine whether or not a product is suiting your skin. It is advisable to take off anything you may have used immediately if it’s causing problems on your skin.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Making certain lifestyle changes can always go a long way in keeping your skin looking healthy and protecting its natural glow. Stay away from oily foods, and fried foods as they are unhealthy and have a negative impact on your skin. Similarly, sugary foods or processed foods are also not good for your skin. What you eat will always reflect on your face so it is vital to take care.

How long does it take to recover?

It can take up to a month for results of a specific skin care regime to show properly on your skin.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

Skin care products can cost anywhere between Rs. 150 – Rs. 5,000, depending on the brand you choose and the products you need.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

If you continue to follow your skin care regime with vigour, then the results can be permanent.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

You can also use home remedies to restore the pallor and glow of your skin. Although they take longer to work when compared with cosmetic products from the market, they are equally as effective and in some cases, better for you. Using home remedies is quite easy. For instance, if you have acne prone skin, you can use a face mask made of turmeric and honey. Turmeric has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help get rid of pimples while the honey lightens the scars they leave behind. Similarly, a scrub with oats, yoghurt, and honey also helps for the same problem. Using a cold compress to temporarily relieve yourself of any inflammation caused by a disease or extreme itching can also help. Certain types of essential oils that have anti-inflammatory properties can also be used to massage onto your skin to relieve yourself of the symptoms. Lavender oil, lemon oil, and clove oil are good options to consider.
