Glowing Skin: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

What is the treatment?

No matter what your skin type is, healthy skin emanates a natural glow. However, when the skin is not healthy or taken care of well enough, then it can look dull and lifeless. This can affect your natural pallor and even make you look unwell. Fortunately, there are many ways to bring back the natural lustre of your skin, and most of the treatments are fairly easy to employ all by yourself. The treatment or the products you must use will depend largely on your skin type and the reason why it looks so dull.

There are many treatment options available to help you restore your glowing skin. In order to know what kinds of products you should use, you should first assess the problems faced by your skin. If your skin is looking dull due to acne and its scars, you can treat your skin with facewash that is designed specifically for acne prone skin. There are also various ointments and creams that can be used to treat your skin.

If your skin is looking dull because of dryness, you can always get moisturizers and lotions in order to quench your skin’s thirst. Once your skin begins to feel hydrated, it will also look hydrated and begin to glow. Skin oils and masks are also items that can be used to treat your skin and restore its glow.

How is the treatment done?

Once you have figured out why your skin looks dull, you can begin to treat it accordingly. If you are having trouble identifying the cause of the dullness, then you can visit a dermatologist or a skin care clinic to let professionals have a look at it. They can help you understand your skin’s needs so that you can treat it in an effective manner.

Skin oils or face oils are one of the most popular ways today to make your skin glow. Enriched with minerals and vitamins, these oils can be massaged into your skin to restore its health and make it glow. Over time, as your skin soaks in the nutrients, you will need to use it lesser. Face oils can be used as per your convenience, either during the day or night, or when you travel. Moisturizers and lotions that are rich in Vitamin E are also great for your skin as they hydrate it and make it softer. If your skin is dull because it’s dry, then these treatment options will suit you the most.

If your skin is dull due to acne, using anti acne treatments can help you. There are many face washes that are rich in ingredients such as neem and astringents and are great for acne prone skin and oily skin. Face peel masks and mud packs are great for exfoliating your skin and pushing in important nutrients respectively.

Dull skin can also occur due to harmful pollutants in the environment. They attack the skin, making it look unhealthy and parched. Using protective products such as creams rich in SPF can help shield your skin from pollutants. You can also use a cleanser or toner at the end of the day to pull out the dirt and grime from the day.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

If you are concerned about the way your skin looks, you should seek out treatment.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

If you are allergic to certain products or ingredients, then you may not be able to use certain treatments to make your skin glow.

Are there any side effects?

Some products can cause side effects such as a rash, itching, or burning sensation. Performing a patch test is the best way to determine whether or not a product is suiting your skin. It is advisable to take off anything you may have used immediately if it’s causing problems on your skin.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Making certain lifestyle changes can always go a long way in keeping your skin looking healthy and protecting its natural glow. Stay away from oily foods, and fried foods as they are unhealthy and have a negative impact on your skin. Similarly, sugary foods or processed foods are also not good for your skin. What you eat will always reflect on your face so it is vital to take care.

How long does it take to recover?

It can take up to a month for results of a specific skin care regime to show properly on your skin.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

Skin care products can cost anywhere between Rs. 150 – Rs. 5,000, depending on the brand you choose and the products you need.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

If you continue to follow your skin care regime with vigour, then the results can be permanent.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

You can also use home remedies to restore the pallor and glow of your skin. Although they take longer to work when compared with cosmetic products from the market, they are equally as effective and in some cases, better for you. Using home remedies is quite easy. For instance, if you have acne prone skin, you can use a face mask made of turmeric and honey. Turmeric has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help get rid of pimples while the honey lightens the scars they leave behind. Similarly, a scrub with oats, yoghurt, and honey also helps for the same problem. Using a cold compress to temporarily relieve yourself of any inflammation caused by a disease or extreme itching can also help. Certain types of essential oils that have anti-inflammatory properties can also be used to massage onto your skin to relieve yourself of the symptoms. Lavender oil, lemon oil, and clove oil are good options to consider.

Why You Need Spinach? 7 Proven Reasons You Should Start Eating It Today!
While we all believe that green leafy vegetables are to be included as part of our regime, not all of us know in detail the amount of goodness that is packed in these. The first thing that comes to mind at the thought of leafy green vegetable is the tender, green, luscious looking spinach. However, not all of us know the amount of goodness and nutrition it stores within in. Spinach, though appears to be delicate and light, puts up a strong fight against inflammatory problems, stress-related problems, cardiovascular issues, bone diseases, and various types of cancers. Minerals and vitamins: Fresh green spinach is loaded with a multitude of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C and K. Major minerals contained in spinach include manganese, iron, magnesium, copper, potassium, phosphorus, and selenium. Anti-cancer benefits: The antioxidant properties in spinach come from carotenoids and flavonoids, and it is loaded with about a dozen flavonoid compounds, thereby getting a strong anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties. Spinach helps in reducing inflammation in the stomach lining and other areas, thereby reducing chances of intestinal cancer. It also provides significant protection against prostate cancer. The incidence of skin papilloma is also reduced with increased consumption of spinach. Anti-inflammatory benefits: The good amounts of vitamin C, E, A, zinc, manganese, selenium are beneficial for reducing stress and thereby reduce incidence of heart attacks and high blood pressure. Spinach also is rich in protein and contains some peptides (small protein units) which inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, which is responsible for increasing blood pressure. This is another way how spinach helps lower blood pressure. Eyes: Lutein and zeaxanthin are two carotenoids, which protects the eyes against cataracts and macular degeneration. Bones: The bacteria in the stomach convert vitamin K1 in spinach to vitamin K2. While vitamin K1 supports the bones by reducing the number of osteoclasts (cells that break down bones), vitamin K2 activates osteocalcin, which promotes bone formation. The high levels of calcium and magnesium only make it even better for the bones. Digestive system: With the good fiber content it has, there is reduced instance of constipation. The anti-inflammatory property helps keep the stomach lining healthy and less prone to ulcers. It also helps flush out toxins and keeps the body alkaline, which helps beat stress. Skin: The various minerals and vitamins in spinach reduces chances of skin infections and also adds to the glow of the skin. The itchiness and dryness of the skin also is reduced with regular use of spinach. So the next time you are thinking, which is one thing you should pick up when you go to the market, think spinach.

Tricks To Take Care Of Your Skin In Summer
Every year summers take a toll on the skin. The excessive heat, sun rays, humidity, pollution are extremely harmful for the skin. The summer heat can wreak havoc on your skin leading to dark spots, pigmentation, wrinkles and tanning. However just a few simple changes in your everyday skincare regimen can ensure that you have a soft and glowing skin in summer. Here are a few tips which would help you in protecting your skin this summer. Hydrate: During summer your body tends to lose a lot of moisture. So hydrating your skin is extremely important during summer seasons. Drinking lots of water will help to keep your skin soft and moisturised. Body lotions are also extremely useful in hydrating the skin. However the thick lotions which are used in winter are not suitable for summer seasons. They are sticky in nature and lead to a lot of discomfort. Fast absorbing lotions or serums are ideal for hydrating the skin in summer. Sleep well About 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily can work wonders in maintaining a soft glowing skin. Use sunscreen: A good quality sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV radiation. Choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 (at least) before you go out in the sun. Sunscreen should be applied in the morning, at least half hour before you go out in the sun. It is best to reapply it again in the afternoon. Protect your eyes and lips: People often tend to ignore their eyes and lips in summers. Protect your eyes with goggles or eye shades to avoid the harsh sun while going out. Lip balms with SPF 15 are extremely helpful in protecting the lips. They help to keep the lips soft and prevent chapping and pigmentation of the lips. Face care: The hottest hours of the day are generally between 11 am to 4 pm. Avoid stepping out in the sun during these hours. This will help in protecting your skin from the harmful UV radiations. Face wash should always be used during summers. It helps in cleaning the clogged pores and exfoliating the skin. However harsh foaming face wash should be avoided during this season. Mild cleansing lotions provide an exfoliating effect and help in making the skin soft and supple. Summers in India are quite harsh and lead to a lot of skin problems. However a minimal basic skin care will go a long way in ensuring that we have a soft and glowing skin this summer.

4 Natural Remedies To Get Glowing Skin!
Ayurveda believes that the beauty of the skin is linked to your overall health. You can have a glowing skin only when your heart and other organs are working properly. The glow comes from within rather than by applying lotions and artificial creams for fairness and flawlessness. It has to be kept in mind that the nutrients and the toxins produced in the body circulates within via the bloodstream. Toxins produced due to vata, pitta and kapha doshas or imbalances are circulated by the circulating rasa dhatu in the body. These hamper the beauty of your skin and overall personality. The toxins damage or destroy the cells in the organs. Therefore, you must start bringing balance to the doshas to get back your natural beauty. Remember, your skin is vulnerable to the imbalances in the doshas. Excess pitta can leave your skin looking dull, pigmented and lusterless. If your skin is oily and the pores are clogged, you might have excess Kapha. Here are some tips for staying beautiful naturally by addressing the dosha imbalances and flushing your system on time: You must drink plenty of water to keep your system clean and free from accumulation of toxins. According to American Journal of Nutrition women in their mid-age with sufficient amount of vitamin C had wrinkle-free skin. They looked young and vitamin. Vitamin C plays a vital role in the production of collagen. It also catalyses collagen repairs. You can have food rich in vitamin C. Thus, you can eat leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits for best results on regular basis. It is always advisable to quit smoking in order to have younger and fairer spotless skin. Smoking is responsible for the release of an enzyme called metalloproteinases. This enzyme is responsible for damage to skin cells. You must not eat too much of sweet stuffs as they can cause beauty disaster. Excess sugar leads to the production of advanced glycation end products by attaching itself to lipids and proteins. This would hamper your skin and its collagen. Exfoliate your skin regularly. It is important for you to exfoliate your skin daily. It removes the dead cells from the outer layer and allows the skin to breathe and look fresh. Make sure that you go for excretion on regular basis and have a proper bowel movement without any problem. You can have a cup of lukewarm water regularly early in the morning empty stomach to have a better bowel movement. There are certain herbs like neem, manjistha, turmeric and tulsi, which enhance your skin quality and improve circulation. You can apply them as face-packs. It is also a good practice to undertake regular warm oil massage. It improves circulation and nourishes the skin to a great extent.

10 Foods to Eat Every Day for Perfect Skin!
You may have preferences when it comes to which skin care products you want to use on your skin, but the actual nourishment is received from within. Hence it is very important to eat healthy food in order to keep your skin healthy. Although it is not possible to maintain the 'healthy' food notion every day, here are some food items which you must eat regularly to maintain healthy skin: 1. Olive oil: Olive oil is one of the healthiest oils you can use in your everyday meals. This is because almost 75% of the fat in olive oil is monounsaturated fatty acids. It also contains antioxidant polyphenols which help to keep the skin healthy. Olive oil also plays a major role in controlling signs of aging. If you consume olive oil regularly for at least a few weeks, you will suffer from 31% less signs of aging. 2. Tomatoes: When consumed with olive oils for a few weeks, tomatoes provide almost 33% more protection against suffering from sunburns. This is because tomatoes contain the antioxidant lycopene which helps in improving the natural SPF of the skin. 3. Dark Chocolate: In spite of the common belief that it is a weight gaining food, dark chocolate is actually very beneficial to the skin. It contains a compound called "cocoa flavanols" which hydrate skin and also improve blood circulation in the body. 4. Green Tea: Green tea has an antioxidant called EGCG which improves blood circulation and oxygen flow in the body, while delivering vital nutrients to the skin which is required for its health. Green tea makes the skin more elastic and smooth, softer and supple. It also reduces sun damage by a quarter. 5. Water: Water is very important for the skin to remain hydrated. Drinking enough water everyday makes the skin appear plumper and less wrinkled. 6. Coffee: Regular consumption of coffee reduces the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer by 11%. If you drink 6 cups of coffee every day, it reduces the risk by 30%, but it causes other health problems; hence is not advised. 7. Carrots: Carrots contain "carotenoid" which gives a natural glow to the skin. Carotenoid provides more yellow tones to skin giving it a healthier look. 8. Pomegranate: Pomegranate has the most antioxidant content amongst fruits. It has an inflammation fighting antioxidant which helps in fighting aging signs. 9. Sunflower seeds: Sunflower seeds are full of Vitamin E which makes the skin supple and helps to protect the skin from the Sun. 10. Beetroot: This red root is loaded with Vitamin A, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and Vitamin E. It has skin clearing properties, and is essential for healthy skin and epidermal healing. It acts as an all-round body cleanser. It also helps eliminate toxins and lowers cholesterol level. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.
