What is the treatment?

A Foot Doctor is called a podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or "foot and ankle surgeon", is a medical professional who specializes in the medical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity.

How is the treatment done?

Feet, an indispensable part of our body is often neglected and gets out of focus. A podiatrist or the doctor who deals with podiatric medicine specialises in dealing with treatments of foot, ankle disfunctioning or lower leg medication. However, they are also responsible in treating leg problem like fractures, sprains, bunions, spurs or pain in the heels, warts, hammertoes and calluses and ingrown toenails. A podiatrist also takes care of infections or injury issues around the ankle, foot or the heels.

The necessity of podiatrist is noticed to increase with people being more sensitive and aware of the importance and requirement of a specialist to deal and treat the issue more effectively and efficiently. Podiatrist plays an inevitable role in the football army treating and mending ways for footballers to maintain a proper athlete foot.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

It is highly recommended to visit a podiatrist in case you are finding any leg problem. It is very important for you to share the entire details related to your leg problem, like how it started, what are the symptoms and the problems you are facing.

The doctor primarily will have an intense look at the injured or affected area. He may also check the area by touching it in order to get an exact problem. Never forget to inform the doctor regarding all the medicine that you are currently taking. This is because your current health state would determine your eligibilities for medicines.

Mostly likely, the doctor will ask you to undergo an X-ray. This is to get a clear picture and thus help in evaluating a proper diagnosis and treatment. The doctor may also ask you to undergo a MRI. Based on the reports, the doctor concludes the diagnosis. Some cases can cured by medication, whereas few cases may arouse the necessity of operation.

It is to be remembered that the patient should not shave or get a pedicure during the period of treatment. Cutting nails or painting your nails should also be avoided.

If you have not faced any injury and not suffering from any leg problem, you do not need this treatment.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

One of the constant factor of medication remains its cruel side effects. If the doctor prescribes a dosage of antibiotics, you may experience several adverse effects like tendency of vomiting, nausea, allergies, itching or even diarrhoea.

On the other hand, often treatment involves methods that instructs the patient not to move the leg and take complete rest. This is also a side effect for people indulging in emergency work.

How long does it take to recover?

The most important guideline for a person with leg injury is to take long rest. Further, you must look after the symptoms and maintain a regular update with the doctor. For person, who has suffered a fracture, a dosage of calcium might be prescribed by the doctor.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

Recovery span depends on the severity of the injury. Fractures generally gets recovered within 30 days whereas, spasms take one week to recover.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

The treatment cost in also dependent on the type and the severity of the case. Fractures may require surgery, while other injuries can be treated with teh help of medicines.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

Results are permanent considered that the patient is treated with proper medication.
