I am 24. A year back a USG showed mildly appearing polycystic ovaries. And ever since then I made complete changes in my lifestyle. I cut down on sugar, Maida and junk and walk for 45 mins and yoga for 1 hour. 6 times a week. I don't have any typical symptoms of pcos as such. My periods are regular becoz of yoga the only problem is mild acne on forehead and scanty periods. Apart from healthy life style I don't take any medications. I read an article on pcos that says all girls with pcos have diabetes type 2. My gynecologist never said any thing about diabetes. I had only USG. No blood test. Do I have type 2 diabetes?

Hello. I Directly come to your point, see PCOD doesn't mean like one with PCOD will be sufferering from Diabetes type. What you have read in article is because in PCOD there is insulin resistance same as in Diabetes Type 2, so some time doctor even suggest to take Metformin a diabetic medicine to control the symptoms od PCOD. Top most thing in PCOD is to maintain a good body weight which you otherwise is maintaining well I guess. So no need to worry about Diabetes. What I can suggest you to get your Glucose level checked to be on safe side and nothing else. Hope it helped. For any further information on it you can consult me. Wishing you health.

No dear you don't have diabetes. its just that pcod pts may in some cases land up having diabetes in the long run later in their life. its good that you have changed your lifestyle so eat healthy n excercise n you may not have any complications of pcod at all .

You are confused. Seeing poly cystic ovaries seen on sonography, does not mean that you have Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease. One needs blood tests to diagnose this. If you are keeping your weight in check and are leading a healthy life style by Yoga, walking and food. Then you need not worry. Scanty menses and acne are also few of the symptoms which are seen in PCOD. So keep up your healthy life style. Maintain weight as per your height. PCOD is a part of a life style disease where the basic fault is supposed to be "Insulin resistance" where the insulin hormone can not go into the cell to utilise the glucose. This is akin to diabetes, and in obese patients, it may lead to diabetes. This is NOT a finality. Every PCOD patient doesnot become diabetic.
