A snapping of the peroneal tendon (which, I suppose, is a tear) is a serious injury and is usually best managed immediately after the injury (Acute management). I don't know for sure why your injury wasn't managed 5 months ago. In any case, a properly performed surgical repair, has excellent results and usually, you can return to normal activities in about 4-6 weeks.

Hi lybrate-user usually 4 to 6 weeks of immobilization and then we will start the mobility exercises. Usually surgery done in the acute phase post injury.
