Hello sir my father aged 68 years ,having diabetes and cad since 12 years. His diabetes is controlled means hb1ac report is 7.he had undergone two angioplasties four years back. Right now his cholesterol level is very very low. Is there any remedy to increase HDL cholesterol? If it is consistently below 60 is it dangerous? His bad cholesterol is 40. triglycerides r normal. Kindly advice.

He should be eating food with omega 3 fatty acids like avocados, cod liver oil, nuts, olive oil in place of regular oil, fishes etc. Try to include garlic, onions, broccoli and fresh seasonal fruits. 30 to 60 minutes of walk. He can divide it in morning and evening hours each 30 minutes. HBA1C of 7 is not very good. Try to eat carbohydrates in moderation. Try giving fresh vegetables. Best if eaten raw or boiled. Vegetables like okra and bitter guards are very good for insulin resistance. These small changes can really help with diabetes and heart conditions.
