Lybrate-user, for hypothyroidism you must be on treatment. If treatment is adequate, the most of the symptoms are wll in check, including irregular menstruation. To achieve very good control in hypothyroidism, tsh levels should be around 3 to 4 milli units/l. To conceive, it is recommended that tsh levels should be 0.1 to 2 milli units. Similarly all through out the pregnancy american thyroid association recommends the following: 1st trimester tsh levels - 0.1 to 2 milli units, 2nd trimester tsh 0.3 to 3 milli units/l & 3rd trimester 0.3 to 3.3 milli units/l. If these levels are maintained, then fetal brain development and functioning is very good. Plus fetal growth will be very good and pregnancy outcomes will be good. So please take care of tsh level. If you have any doubts please do come back.
