My mother's sugar with fasting is 150. After eating it's 200 is that diabetes? If yes then type 1 or type 2 diabetes? Is it of serious concern?

Hi at her age, more likely it is type 2 diabetes. And yes diabetes is a serious problem only if not managed properly. I advice you to go for kidney, lipid and urine rm report and start her on treatment as soon as possible.

Greetings for the day! with single blood glucose levels, diabetes cannot be confirmed. We always need hba1c also and other relevant medical history and clinical signs and symptoms. Though its little on higher side, we cannot confirm it as diabetes. Regarding the type, the hyperglycemia detected for first time at older age is mostly a type-2 diabetes. Its not a dangerous one and can be easily managed with the help of diet changes and if needed, medications. However, I would request you to get a repeat test of both fasting and post prandial along with hba1c and take a consultaion. Hope this helps.
