Is it compulsory the vitamin d be present in the diet for calcium absorption? Or is it enough to expose the body to the sun every day?

Unfortunately, we don't get vitamin d from food, unless it's fortified with it. If you have exposure to the sun during the morning hours and are reasonably active, your levels may be sufficient. However, since vitamin d absorption needs direct exposure of skin to sunlight (overexposure runs risk of skin cancer), many individuals are deficinent.
