Asthma types are based on the causes and severity of symptoms. Asthma types are - 1) intermittent: it does not stay for a long as it comes and goes. You will feel normal in between asthma flares. 2) persistent: symptoms occur for a longer period of time. It could be mild, moderate or severe. Severity of asthma depends on how often you are developing the symptoms and also how long it stays. 3) exercise-induced asthma: sometimes you get asthma attacks or it gets triggered when you do intensive exercise. The condition is also known as exercise-induced bronchospasm. 4) occupational asthma: people who work at places containing substances that trigger asthma. 5) asthma-copd overlap syndrome (acos): people suffering from both asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd) fall under this type.
