Hello doctor. I am a 43 years old male. For the last few days I have been suffering from high blood pressure. My bp generally remains 170/135 which is too high. I don?t consume alcohol and I take good care of my diet as well. Please let me know what are the main causes of high blood pressure?

High blood pressure is caused due to many reasons. Unhealthy lifestyle choices as well as various health conditions may lead to high blood pressure. Few causes include- thyroid, lack of sleep or sleep apnea, consuming illegal drugs such as amphetamines and cocaine, taking medicines for cold, cough, painkillers, contraceptive pills and a few others, and congenital heart defects caused due to problems in blood vessels.
