Good evening Mr. lybrate-user. As per your query the pep should always be started within 72 hours of exposure and should be continued till 28 days. It is to prevent the virus to multiply in the blood and also to prevent to get lodged in lymph nodes. If a person get infected with hiv, antibodies starts to develop after 2 weeks only and so we can diagnose it by simple antibody or tridot test after 21 to 28 days of exposure. Any person who got infected with hiv will be diagnosed within 3 months maximum if not definitely by 180 days since exposure. So I request you to repeat the test after 6 months of exposure irrespective of your pep usage and previous negative report. I have been treating hiv disease for more than 10 years and please contact if you still need further assistance.
