My fasting glucose is 135 and pp is 167. Hitherto I am taking glycomet sr 500 mg in the morning and in the night .my doctor has asked me to take teneligliptin 20 mg plus metforminhcl in the night and asked me to stop the glycomet 500 mg sr in the night to contain fasting levels. Can I take? I am diagnosed with t wave inversion in the year 1977. No problem with that so far in all these years. I have hypothyroidism also. Can I continue these medicines for a long time as far as fasting glucose is lowered? Or do I have to stop teneligliptin after fasting level comes down?

Hello, thanks for the query. The glucose levels mentioned (both fasting & pp) are quite fine, considering your age. It would have been better if you had mentioned current or latest hba1c%, that would have clarified it better. As regards changes suggested by your doctor of adding tenelegliptin and metformin for better control, I really do not see any requirement. Your fasting glucose can be reduced by even a slight alteration of your night time food intake and increasing the level of physical activity. Since you have mentioned (t- wave inversion) some cardiac issue earlier, then it is better to avoid tenelegliptin. By altering the food intake, increasing physical activity you can bring down your glucose levels as those are already quite good. Please inform your serum creatinine and urea levels to know kidneys are functioning. If you have any qiestions please do come back. Thanks.
