This combination of clindamycin and nicotinamide is effective for acne lesions which are red (inflammed). It has to be applied over the whole face as it will prevent appearance of new acne too.

Clindamycin is effective for acne for dry as well as oily skin but only for few weeks as acne gradually develops resistance to clindamycin. So use it for short period only.

So treatment of acne depands on various factors and it consist of oral and topical treatments for 3-4 months depending upon the cause. Clindamycin is a part of treatment and can be used with oral medicines for a limited period of time. It can not treat acne by its own effect.

By killing the p. Acnes bacteria, Clindamycin prevents the development of inflammatory acne lesions. One nice feature of Clindamycin is that it is most often very well-tolerated; it does not cause the dryness and irritation that we see with some other acne medications. Clindamycin works best when combined with another topical medication, such as benzoyl peroxide. Most formulations of Clindamycin should be applied 1-2 times daily. Your dermatologist will give you specific instructions for use of Clindamycin when you are first prescribed the medication. Clindamycin is only available by prescription; it is not available in over-the-counter formulations.
