A fungal infection of the female genitals, characterized by vaginal discharge is known as Candidiasis. Unstable proportion of yeast and bacteria in the vagina can lead to such infections. Candidiasis is not a sexually transmitted disease. Commonly known as yeast infections, it may spread through oral-genital contact or through sexual intercourse. Vaginal irritation, sores and inflammation are some of the common symptoms. In case of a heightened case of candidiasis, symptoms may involve increased swelling, itching and inflammation.
HOW IS CANDIDIASIS DIAGNOSED?
Candidiasis is caused by the fungi candida albican which is mostly caused due to antibiotics.
