I am 47 yrs old female taking istamet 50/500. My blood sugar is not cotrolled fasting sugar is 135. Should I change the medicine? what is the right time to take the medicine empty stomach or after meal.

Istamet medicine takes before meal in morning. If your blood sugar level not controlling by this medicines. You should be change your medicine. Pl. Start tab. Glimstar pm2 once a day before meal in morning. Eat as whole grain foods, green veg. Juice, plenty of water at least 8 glass of water in a day. Avoid high cholesterol foods, oily, fatty, junk, fast foods, foods from out sided, sweat foods. Go for walk daily, do yoga, cycling, any good exercise i. E cycling, avoid stress, try to take good sleep at night. Checkup your body by blood sugar tests every week to monitor it. And physical examination at regular time.

What's your last 2 fbs, pp2bs values and last hba1c value with date? 2. Which medicines were you taking before? since how long are you on isamer 50/500? 3. Are you taking care of your diet and doing 30min daily exercise? 4. Are you taking any other medicines for any other illness like hypertension, heart disease etc? 5. Since how long are you diabetic? 6. I also advise to get done few baseline investigation and every yr. (serum creatinine, urine routine, urine microalbumin, fundus examination once and every 3-5 year, usg for kidney once. I hope this helps!

Change to istamet 50/1000 twice daily AFTER Meals...target blood sugars are <130 fasting and <180 post meals...so its a fairly good control
