For how long brahmi tablets can be taken. I was using brahmi for about 5 months along with ashwagandha tablets, which I only consumed for a month or so. Now, after 7 months of using them I am having symptoms of ocd and depression. Is it because of these products? By the way I am 22 years old boy and didn't consult any doctor before taking them. I was using for general well being of mental health.

There are very less chances of brahmi/ashwagandha having caused depression/ocd but both these conditions are treatable I suggest to consult a psychiatrist.

Hi lybrate-user, I have never heard anyone having started with ocd and depression after consuming brahmi and ashwagandha. Rather the opposite! some of my clients shared that they take it along with my counselling sessions and it helped because these herbs are known to help in some mental health issues. Though excessive of anything is bad and we won't know if you consumed them excessively. Coming to the point of symptoms of depression and ocd, I would suggest not self - diagnosing rather consulting a professional to know if, these issues are actually existing in you. If the answer will be yes, I would suggest taking a proper treatment. Depending on the severity of symptoms you might need only counselling or a combination of counselling and medication.
