Generally we are taking vitamin c for immunity in the current covid situation. I have a child who is 9 yeats old. Is it necessary to give vitamin c supplements for him for the same purpose. If so can you recommend any tablet for kids and the dosage.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user if you are eager for your child to have vit c supplements, kid-c tablets 1 tablet a day containing 40 mg of vitamin which is 100% rda (required daily amount) may be used. However please note the following- vitamin c is a water soluble vitamin and cannot be stored in the body, so unless there is a deficiency, there is no role for vitamin supplements. Vit c does not prevent infections but will help reduce the duration of the infection. It is best obtained by eating fresh fruit and vegetables such as citrus fruit, guava, kiwi fruit, tomatoes, cabbage etc. Best wishes.
