I got allergy and cold twice or thrice a week. But I tried to get rid of this for so many years. No western medical and naturopathic doctor can't give me a good treatment for that. I tried all over the counter medicines such as antihistamine (cetrizine/ loratadine), chlorphenamine maleate, and the home remedies such as garlic, onion, ginger, lime and honey. Sneezing continues and running nose never stops and then happens blocking nose. I use nasal spray such as oxymetazoline and xylolin most of the time. It may lead rebound decongestant. I use saline as well. I am really sick of suffering this through out my life. If there is a way, please suggest me. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user I understand your concern and frustration. From the information you have provided I see you have tried allopathic treatment and home remedies. Allergies are an increased reaction of the body. Like in a normal person if he comes in contact with an allergen he might sneeze a couple of times and is normal. But in a person where the immunity is low. The body overreacts in an attempt to protect itself. Thereby giving you continous sneezing, runny nose etc. So we have to work to build your immunity so that the body can take care of itself. This can be done thru homeopathic medicine and certain lifestyle changes. I'm not sure if you have taken it b4. But if you wish to you can contact me for further discussion.

1. Do saline gargles daily. 2. Whenever possible do steam inhalation also. 3. Cover your nose and mouth with hanky for at least 30 sec when you go in dusty areas also when you go in and out of ac. As our nose is the most sensitive part of our body, when there is temperature difference between two rooms or inside n outside, then if we not protect our nose, it gets affected. 4. Drink hot liquids --hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat. 5. Sleep with an extra pillow under your head-- elevating your head will help relieve congested nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope. 6. Treat that stuffy nose with warm salt water-- salt-water rinsing helps break nasal congestion, while also removing virus particles and bacteria from your nose. 7. Blow your nose often (and the right way)-- it's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can carry germ-carrying phlegm back into your ear passages, causing earache. The best way to blow your nose: press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results. Consult online for details.
