When a certain type of bacteria, usually found in suspended dust, attacks the lungs or sometimes spread to the entire body, the condition is known as nocardiosis, deriving its name from the bacteria. Mortality rate is very high in cases of nocardiosis. It involves night sweats, chest pain, fever, cough and even pneumonia. The bacterium spreads rather fast inside the host body and is known to target men more than women. Lack of basic immunity is a major cause of nocardiosis.
HOW IS NOCARDIOSIS DIAGNOSED?
In certain cases, the condition may be accompanied by lesions or meningitis in the brain.
