My grandfather age is 72. In ct-kub (plain) we found an impression that umbilical hernia (defect 15*14 mm) with omentum as content. And he had stone in kidney (right proximal ureteric calculus 20 mm). As of now we are going ahead with stone problem. Is it compulsory to do hernia surgery also. Or we can done both at a time. In the coming 2 days kidney stones surgery is going to be done. How much time we can take for hernia surgery?

As age is 72 years so before deciding surgery all routine investigations and cardiac check up is required, if hernia is complicated than only immediate surgery is required.

It's not compulsory but better to get hernia operated simultaneously because general anaesthesia will be given for the stone surgery. Hernia can also be operated with other incision under same anaesthesia. And both surgeries can be done with same hospital stay.

First you should finish your stone surgery then umbilical hernia.

As per the above reports shared. Ureteric stone has to be dealt as quickly as possible as stone size is 2 cm and the umblical hernia is too small and you can wait else as your planning for ursl in the same anesthesia your umblical hernia can be repaired using hernioraphy. Else umblical hernia is too small and content being omentum you can wait.

This is a small umbilical hernia. It can be left as such if it's not causing a problem. If your patient is otherwise fit and tolerates anesthesia well, it's better to get it repaired In the same sitting. As per the size giving by you it's a small hernia and at the maximum it will take half an hour more to repair it.. Regards
