A condition where there is a tear in the soft tissue of the groin muscle due to a twisting movement of the body during sports such as hockey and football is known as sports hernia. Symptoms range from pain in the affected area and a possible bulge in some cases. Anti-inflammatory medicines are prescribed as treatments along with proper rest whereas severe cases may require surgery.
