My age is 41, I have severe dandruff and most of the time itching, damaged the skin, some times thick layers use to spill from hairs, .when I was in abroad a doctor advised to use a shampoo novaphane ds of acm lab, (composition: aqua (water), sodium laureth sulfate, dipropylene glycol, coco-betadine, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, piroctone olamine, sodium lactate, decyl glucoside, salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione, polyquaternium-7, glycyrrhetinic acid, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, sodium polynaphthalenesulfonate, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, citric acid, ci 15985 (yellow 6), ci 19140 (yellow 5).).after using this shampoo I have seen moderate decrease in itching and dandruff fall, but I was happy, is there any shampoo with same composition in india. Pls it would be great help. Thanks.

Hello hope you are keeping safe 1) I understand your concern about dandruff / pityriasis capitis, which by itself can cause hair fall. The best adviced ingredients for dandruff are ketoconazole 2%,selenium sulphide, zinc pyrithione as these work on the fungus that causes the dandruff and hense application of these can lead to dandruff clearance 2) you can try nizoral shampoo, arcolane shampoo, selsun shampoo, danclear shampoo. These are available anywhere in india and is of a good safety profile. 3) these shampoos should be appllied atleast 5-8 minutes on scalp before washing it off. It is ideally used twice weekly, but shampoos like nizoral and arcolane can be used daily for the first week and then from the second week on, you can make it twice weekly until clearance. These shampoos tend to dry the hair out, so you can follow this with a normal anti - dandruff shampoo for maintaining the softness. You can also have vitamins that aide in proper skin growth like capulse omega3. 4) follow these measure - do not oil your hair frequently as too much of oil accumulation on scalp can lead to increased sebum secretion that can aide the growth of the fungus - change bed linens and towels after the first treatment - clean combs - do not share personal belongings - wash hair with luke warm water hope your query is cleared thank you and take care.
