My father aged 70 has been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis with ascites. There was no problem with his liver all these years but from november he had high bilirubin levels of 17.41 that has reduced to 3.24 last week. Ast/ alt/ alkaline phosphate/ ggtp was 155/87/689/ 601 but reduced to 55/ 87/ 247/ 126 last week. But ascites tap has been done 3 times in the last one month each time a tapping of 5l. His creatinine is around 1.7 and albumin 2.8. No variceal bleeding or sbt. Doctors are saying that a tips procedure would be considered as he is not a candidate for a liver transplant. Please advice.
