Hello doctor, my son 11 years of age height 148 cms weight 41 kgs suffered from fever ranging 102 to 104 degree f for 14 days. The origin of fever was unknown as all the blood tests were normal (cbc, no malaria, no typhoid, no tb, no dengue etc.) twice. His chest x ray was normal but his whole abdomen ultrasound showed minor liver and spleen enlargement whereas kidneys were normal too. His lft and kft were also normal but crp (c reactive protein) in beginning was 17.9 and on 13th day rose to 28. Now he has recovered fully and its been a week. His paediatrician said it was a prolonged viral fever. Just wanted to ask whether liver and spleen enlargement become normal after recovery? Will crp become normal after recovery (less than 5? Do we need to go for further diagnosis even if he has recovered to avoid any complications related to above? He was on oral medication treatment of dolo 650 (sos) and antibiotics azithral 250 mg bd and taxim 200 mg bd for few days.

I believe you should go for blood culture test. Symptoms may re appear. Cause of mild enlargement of liver and spleen needs to be identified.
