N hav not got periods since 40-45 days inspite of taking rajahpravartini 2 tabs per day. Should eltroxin be increased? Isn't it already a higher dose only? And inspite of taking tabs for thyroid I feel all symptoms still like cold hands and feet joint pain tiredness swelling face in the mrng etc what should be done. (no pcod according to scan reports)

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam your major problem is the morbid obesity. With a bmi of 45.45 kgs /sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter). You are having an excess of almost 60 kgs. Pcod and all other symptoms are mainly due to this morbid obesity. As regards the levothyroxine dosage is concerned, it depends on ones body weight, and thyroids ability to synthesise thyroxine. If the hormone is totally absent, then higher dosage needs to be used. There are patients taking 200 to 250 mcg per day. Ideally tsh needs to be maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l, to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Thanks.
