I twisted my leg one month ago, 53 years old. I was having pain on the lateral and medial sides of knee and the lateral side of leg. My recent MRI report says I have a grade 3 flap tear in the posterior horn of my medial meniscus along with cystic changes. What should I do for treatment and relief from pain?

While the definitive treatment, at this age, is a key-hole removal of the damaged meniscus, there is no harm in trying short course of conservative physiotherapy-based treatment, after consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. Sometimes these may settle without procedure Routine measures would include avoid painful activity, warm packs, painkiller gels, avoid squatting, knee exercises and electrotherapy (physiotherapy)
