Hi Sir, Daring start of 2nd trimester of pregnancy doctor advised to go for glucose tolerance test and result comes out as gestinal diabetes. Since then on every fortnight doctor advised me to go for blood pressure test along with advised to take diabetic medicines daily. My general blood PP result comes Out as 135 on average but today my result comes out as 116. Earlier in the month of August it came below 120. So my question is that due to consumption of diabetic medicines on daily whether sugar can be fall to my baby or not. Please advise.

Hello, Thanks for the query. It would have been better if you had mentioned the actual blood values of GTT, like fasting, 1 h 2 hr and 3 hr glucose levels. Gestational diabetes is usually diagnosed during the 24 th to 34 th week of gestation. Earlier than that if diabetes is noticed it could be preexisting condition. Please let me know what are the medications you are on for diabetes, because in pregnancy preferred medication is Insulin injections. Oral drugs except metformin occasionally others are not given. Ideally blood glucose needs to be maintained between 90 to 120 mg through out the day. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thankjs.
