Hello, Thanks for the query. Hyperthyroidism when treated with anti-thyroid drugs for over 12 to 18 months can be controlled. Once the normal functioning occurs the gland may remain in that for some months to years. But invariably the condition does recur. I hope I have clarified your doubt.
