It's basically a precancerous lesion. Can turn into cancer later. It usually takes lot of time. To go away. Once I had a patient like that .he was told by dentist that it's oral lichen planus. He had some irritation due to his wisdom tooth. So we extracted that wisdom tooth .as the irritation went away. The white patch. The so called orAl lichen planus went away.in four years .now my patient is healthy .you can get your wisdom teeth checked on either side. And if it's truly causing any irritation to the cheek area there you can get it removed. Plus a biopsy may help in differential diagnosis .as further investigation.
