Most probably you need a root canal treatment (rct) or tooth removal if severity is beyond repair. Visit a dentist to find out the real cause. If rct is required it can be done in single or multiple visits and your exams can be easily spared. If removal is required you can take medicines to postpone it or as your dentist may advise you.

Get a filling done by a dentist otherwise it may bother you more in exams.

You see the dentist as soon as possible. If the pain is mild and only sensitivity is there than it can be treated only with restoration (Filling). If you will delay, it might go for Root canal treatment. One month is a fair good time, get it done before your exams.
