Hi doctors, I wanted to check some info regarding the HIV Duo CMIA test. What all subtypes can this test detect? Does it detect only the most common HIV subtypes in India or does it also detect the rare types like N, O, P and CRF's. I have taken the test twice from Metropolis, the last one after 90 days. Both have been non reactive. So wanted to know if there is any specific test to detect rare subtypes or HIV Duo CMIA covers all of them? My symptoms started around 1 month from exposure (which was on 8th May) and they are still continuing even now. I only have this symptom of feeling dizzy and feel sometimes like fainting but not really fainting. I have not had any fever or sore throat, etc. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user. If the reports are non reactive then you might not have HIV. So instead of obsessing about HIV you should get treatment for your symptoms. And if needed other tests. You may try taking homoeoatphic medicine. Except HIV there are other STDs also like Gonorrhea or Syphilis. Etc.

Fainting and dizziness may be due to some other problem also. Cmia duo is the 4 th genetation test for hiv which covers hiv 1 and 2 both. Soo it's accuracy is 99.9%.soo it is the ultimate test. Soo as your test is non reactive that means your not affected by the hiv.
