Usually about 50 to 55% calories should be from carbs (rice, wheat, jowar, bajra, other millets etc), 15% from proteins like dal, soy beans, eggs, (non -vegetarian foods - fish, chicken) and milk products, 25 % to 30 % from fats. Preferably from unsaturated oils. Saturated oils should be minimal. No trans fats. Most of the rice available in market is highly polished variety including the brown variety. Unpolished or least polished rice is better as it contains more fibers. So please check the fiber content of the rice you are selecting. Quantity will be based on your total carb intake.
