I have hypothyroidism. And I am taking medication for it. In a recent test the tsh has come a little lower than the minimum. These days I feel a pain in the knees and sole after sitting for a long time or after getting up from breed after sleep. What could the reason be? many a times I walk with some pain for a while before the pain goes off. Thanks for any helpful pointer.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your issues with hypothyroidism will have to be dealt with by an endocrinologist. Your knee pain could be early degeneration or chondromalacia like issues and heel pain could be due to fascial inflammation. If you have no swelling or any other s/s of any inflammation like skin warmth, redness etc, the my advise to you will be to get few blood tests like cbc, esr, crp, serum electrolytes, serum vitamin d levels and send reports across to me. Also start with physical therapy, gentle anti inflammatory medications and calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per your body's requirements and get in touch with me after test results. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.
