Hi, I am Dr Kritika. I am a dietitian and a specialist in weight management. Today I am going to tell you about weight loss through healthy lifestyle and diet. First of all set a goal for yourself, Set small goals initially.

  • Throw away all the junk food and adopt healthy eating habits.
  • Eat nuts, fresh fruits and snacks.
  • Detox your body early morning by having lemon water and honey or aloevera juice.
  • Have a breakfast and do not skip meals. Have 5-6 small meals in a day instead of 3 big ones.
  • Eat smaller food portions by eating in a small plate.

Thus will create illusion that you are eating less calories.

  • Eat in blue plates as our brain feels less hungry seeing blue color hence you won't end up eating much.
  • Also eat slowly and take atleast 20 minutes to eat food as our brain gets a signal of complete meal in this much time and hence we end up eating less.
  • Take 2-3 fruits and 3 vegetable servings during the day.
  • Take plenty of water upto 4 liters in a day because it helps in detoxification.
  • Always have a glass of water when you feel hungry because sometimes you feel hungry but you actually are just thirsty. So half an hour before your meal have a glass of water and fresh salad.

Are you gluten intolerant?

Many people experience digestive and health problems caused by eating gluten or wheat. Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, barley, and rye.

If you have any of the following symptoms it could be a sign that you have gluten intolerance

1. Digestive issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhoea and even constipation.

2. Fatigue, brain fog or feeling tired after eating a meal that contains gluten.

3. Diagnosis of an autoimmune disease such as hashimoto's thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, lupus, psoriasis, scleroderma or multiple sclerosis.

4. Dizziness or feeling of being off balance.

5. Hormone imbalances such as pms, pcos or unexplained infertility.

6. Migraine headaches.

7. Diagnosis of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.

8. Inflammation, swelling or pain in your joints such as fingers, knees or hips.

9. Mood issues such as anxiety, depression, mood swings.

The best way to determine if you have an issue with gluten is to do an elimination diet and take it out of your diet for at least 2 to 3 weeks and then reintroduce it.

I am 25 and married but yet to plan for kids 1) Need suggestion to reduce weight in a healthy manner 2) Going through severe pains in the joints especially on to lower back and knees. Upon taking a lab report found out that I have very low vitamin D count. Also, getting angry and shout at people in the recent past. It is normal to put on weight during delivery. But don't worry you will slowly shed your weight. Breast feeding helps in losing pregnany gain. You can start some yoga which will help you gain shape.After the baby is 5-6 months old , you can control your diet by eating only healthy foods which will not lead to weight gain.

If you have suddenly gained weight than did you get your thyroid checked. What changes took place in yoiur lifestyle which resulted in such a drastic weight gain. Weight gain is normally due to sedentary lifestyle and your unhealthy diet. You have to focus on diet and exercise.

I am taking one boiled egg with a cup of milk in my breakfast daily so as to heal the lateral malleolus fracture quickly. Also eat yogurt everyday in addition with lunch. Is this much of diet is helpful for intake of calcium? Tell me some more about food, fruits and nuts which can contribute in effective healing of my bone fracture.

Apart from having curd and eggs , you can have green leafy vegetables, broccoli, spinach, cheese, vit. C rich fruits, bell peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds. Restrict your intake of sugar, colas, salt, caffein, refined grains, alcohol.Have omega 3 fats.

If you have cervical than you should do neck and shoulder stretching daily and mind your way of sleeping and doing your daily chores. To reduce lower abdomen do planks and pushups.

Eat healthy foods, fresh fruits and veggies. No maida, junk food, colas. HAve 2 walnuts daily. Do brisk walking for 45 min. daily. and do pranayaam. Drink at least 3-4 ltrs. of water .

If you have fatty liver than you should eat boiled food , no ghee, butter, oil, spices. HAve plenty of fluids. No maida items and colas. Have thin veg. soups, fresh fruit juices.

Grapes - A Fruit You Must Have!

As the New Year begins, the one fruit which is available in abundance are grapes. The black/purple and the green variety, seeded and seedless, are all over the place. Given the weather slowly changing from winter, they seem like the best thing to beat the summer heat. And yes, they are. Not just for overall health, they are also great for the skin and hair. Read on to know more.

Benefits of grapes for skin:

  1. When the sunscreen lotion does not help much and sunburn happens, the one of the best home remedies is to apply mashed grapes for about 30 minutes. The grapes are rich in antioxidants (proanthocyanidins and resveratrol). They reduce the damage caused by ultraviolet radiation and also reduces cell damage caused by excessive skin exposure.
  2. Rubbing the grape pulp on the face for about 20 minutes can help reverse and control antiaging better than any chemical treatment. It reduces the effect of free radicals which lead to fine wrinkles and dark spots.

A boy of your talent has taken to masturbation. This is a sad thing. At your age you should concentrate just on your studies . Your mind and body will become weak if you continue excessive masturbation and than it will lead to other sexual problems also. It is better that you develop a strong will power and divert your mind. Get up early in the morning and go to a park for running. Practice yoga and meditation. Make some good friends who will help you concentrate in your studies. Pepsi or other fizzy drinks are not at all good for our health. They just increase your calories and don't give any nutrients to your body.You are already overweight. It would be better if you stop taking colas, fruit juices and junk food and opt for fresh fruits and nuts.

Cinnamon is a warm herb. You should take 1/2 tsp of it with 1/2 tsp honey and 1 cup boiling water.Have it before breakfast and after dinner.
