I am using otrivin since 25 years. When I started it I was deducted by sinus. By a doctor. I am 43 years now. Now the problem is that I feel head ace and I always feel sleepy. And tiered in brain. During day time .my question is that does otrivin or nasivion effect on brain. And what harm they can do. To brain. Or.it is because of some other reason not by otrivin or nasivion.

Oxymetazoline the drug in otrivin easily crosses the blood brain barrier and can have effect on the brain after chronic use causing nervousness. After such chronic it will lead to detrimental effects on the nasal tissue causing swelling which doesn’t respond to medicines, it is also habit forming, leads to rhinitis medicamentosa which is very difficult to treat. Otrivin should never be used for more than 10-15 days consecutively.
