Sir, my mother aged 77 years is taking placida tablet for anxiety related issues. While the medicine is working fine, it is causing chronic constipation. Taking bulk laxatives regularly is not helping. Even lactulose doesn't work very well with moderate doses. Is there any substitute for placida which will not have constipation as a side effect, yet have the desired outcome to handle anxiety. For information, she has an ischemic colon and she also takes 0.75 mg of clonazepam every night. She has a pacemaker for last 17 years and is also a copd patient.
