Asking a question for my dad. My dad had a major heart attack 2 years ago. Since then, he has been prescribed 2 medicines by the doctor. The medicines are clopitab A-150 and rosuvas 40. After each appointment, the doctor reduced the power of rosuvas to rosuvas 10. My dad had an appointment today and the doctor told him to stop both the medicines and take Clavix Gold-10 tablet which is a combination of both. According to my knowledge, this tablet is used to prevent heart attack and contains aspirin which causes internal bleeding. My dad has very low cholesterol. Why did the doctor prescribe this medicine?

Hello lybrate-user. It is the preventive dose. And yes there is always a risk of having side effects like bleeding. But there is more risk of having heart attack and next time it will be fatal. So considering the higher risk it is prescribed. Reading something on internet is good for knowledge but it does not give you right to doubt the judgement of the doctor.
