My mom keeps fast on 2 days a week as a religious practice. Recently, the last Friday, she fainted and was taken to hospital, due to cardiac arrest, the doctors gave 3rd degree shock. In the hospital, mom once again got cardiac arrest and was given 3rd degree shock. Mom is on ventilator now, it's been a week her BP, sugar levels everything is normal but the heart and pulse rate is 145 and she is not getting into conscious. Doctors are saying brain might of damaged due to inefficient supply of oxygen to brain and there are less then 10% chances of recovery.

When patients collapse and do not receive timely CPR then the blood supply of the brain gets compromised and this leads to irreversible damage to the brain and its functioning. If the damage is too large then a patient becomes brain damage and the chances of recovering are very less. Your treating doctor's are best judge of that, so discuss with them and follow their advice.
