Dear Doctor, My husband is 60 and has been diabetic for some years now. He has been taking Janumet tablets, once after breakfast (850 mg) and Cozar, (losartan potassium) - 100 mg twice daily. Recently he did a Fibroscan and was diagnosed as having Stage 4 liver cirrhosis. Now he has to ALSO take Heptral 500 mg 2 hours before food twice a day as well as the Janumet and Cozar tablets. He does not drink or smoke, and we are VEGETARIANS. Kindly advise (1) What food can he take as there are conflicting views (eg on proteins, grains, yogurt) for diabetics and non-alcoholic fatty liver patients? (2) Can he continue to take the medicines prescribed as we don't want to burden his liver further. Thank you.
