I had dengue and got admitted in hospital and the staff started drip in my hand above palm. But after few days there was swelling from palm to elbow like the drip got out. Its been 10 days still the condition is same and upper side of hand is very much stiff from palm to elbow where the glucose and other medicines which were injected .whats the solution for this? Kindly help.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Some times when IV fluids may escape from the vein and extra vasate in to the tissue around that point. This leads to swelling and pain. May also cause thrombpphlebitis (inflammation of the n vein). Apply hot fomentation, keep the limb raised, if needed put compression bandage and take simple analgesics. That should relieve the condition. Thanks.
