How Homeopathic Remedies Can Help You Get Relief From Joint Pain?

Joint pain usually results from soreness, ache or discomfort in any of the joints of your body- the knees, hip, elbows, or shoulder. It is a common condition, seen in both adults and young people. More often than not, joint pain is associated with an injury or illness.

Causes-
Joint pain is normally caused due to an injury in the tendons or ligaments surrounding your joint.

  1. Rheumatoid arthritis- refers to a chronic disorder that causes inflammation in the joint. It leads to immobility or deformity in the wrist, ankle, feet or fingers. Rheumatoid arthritis is more common in women than in men.
  2. Osteoarthritis- it is a degenerative disorder mostly observed in older people. This form of arthritis affects the cartilage, leading to joint pain.
  3. Chondromalacia Patella- occurs when the underside of the kneecap becomes inflamed.
  4. Osteoporosis- this condition makes the bones brittle and porous, often leading to compression fractures and reduced joint flexibility that result in joint pain.
  5. Bursitis- when the fluid-filled small sacs cushioning the muscles, tendons and bones surrounding your joint becomes inflamed.

Joint pain usually shows symptoms such as-

  1. Swelling and tenderness
  2. Stiffness and immobility
  3. Sharp stabbing pain in the affected area

Joint pain is of the most widespread forms of chronic pain and can cause disruptions in everyday life if not cured early.

Prevention-
As stated earlier, pain in the joint is caused due to a sudden traumatic injury or an illness. As it affects people from a broad age group, there are no definite preventive measures. However, in case of an injury, adopting the following measures can improve your bone strength and help reduce pain.

  1. Ice pack- applying ice pack on the affected joints can reduce the flow of blood and thereby reduce swelling.
  2. Hydrotherapyputting warm water on the muscles and joints eases pressure and alleviates pain in the knees.
  3. Exercise- mild exercise stretching that does not involve putting too much pressure on your joints can flex and strengthen your joint muscles.
  4. Eat healthy- putting on extra weight can strain your joints and aggravate the pain. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis should avoid eating red meat, processed food and switch to food that are rich in fiber.

Homeopathy medications have been in use for over several decades. Unlike other treatment methods, which use pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs etc. to ease the pain temporarily, homeopathic medicines address the root cause of the problem and offers permanent or at least long-term relief from joint pain.

Homeopathic medicines are made of plants and natural substances- shells, rock salt etc. For instance, Bryonia, a genus of plant belonging to the gourd family, is used to reduce joint stiffness and swelling. Mineral compounds taken from Potassium carbonate are very effective in reducing sharp, severe pain in the joints. Arnica is a genus of the herbaceous plant that works wonders for soreness, bruises and muscle/joint pain. One added advantage of homeopathy that makes it a more preferred choice of treatment for patients is that there are very few or absolutely no side effects.
