What is the remedy about?

Snoring is a common problem and occurs when the relaxed structures present in your throat starts vibrating and makes noise. It is sometimes also considered to be a sleeping disorder and may be a reason for concern. The following home remedies can help to stop your problem of snoring:

  • Peppermint contains anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the swelling of your membranes that are present in the lining of the nostrils and throat. It helps to promote smooth and easy breathing. You can add 1 or 2 drops of peppermint oil in water and gargle with that solution daily.
  • Olive oil, another anti-inflammatory agent helps to ease out all the tissues that are present along your respiratory passage. This eventually results in the swellings to reduce, providing a clear passage for air to pass through. Have 2-3 sips of olive oil before you go to bed regularly. You can also mix it with a bit of honey.
  • One of the prime reasons for snoring is nasal congestion. Inhaling steam can be the best remedy for treating a nasal congestion. You only have to put a few drops of essential or tea tree oil in a bowl of boiling water and inhale the hot steam. Do this regularly for around 10 minutes until your nose gets cleared.
  • Cardamom is a decongestant that helps to open up blocked nasal passages. Once your nasal passage is cleared, your snoring will automatically reduce. Add half a spoon of cardamom powder to a glass of warm water and drink the mixture regularly 30 minutes before going to bed.
  • Both antibiotic and antiseptic, turmeric can help to treat inflammation and gradually reduce heavy snoring. It also aids in boosting your immune system. Add two spoons of turmeric powder to a glass of warm milk and drink it half an hour before retiring to bed. Make sure you do it on a regular basis.

Are there any side effects?

The possible side effects of practising these home remedies could be:

  • If you are using peppermint oil to gargle, make sure that you do not swallow it. There is a possibility of triggering an allergic reaction, heartburn, mouth sores or headaches.
  • Olive oil may lower down the level of blood sugar in some cases. Diabetic patients must keep a check on their sugar level if consuming olive oil on a regular basis.
  • For people having gallstones, it is advisable not to have cardamom in excessive amounts. It can trigger spasmodic pain.
  • Consumption of turmeric may sometimes lead to nausea, dizziness, stomach upset and diarrhea. Apart from that, excessive consumption of turmeric prevents proper absorption of iron. So, people who have iron deficiency must be careful when consuming turmeric. Moreover, turmeric and milk can also have side effects on people who are lactose intolerant.

What are the post-remedy guidelines?

The post remedy guidelines include:

  • Try changing your sleeping position. Sleeping on your side can help to reduce snoring.
  • If you notice that you have gained weight around your neck, it can be a reason that causes you to snore at night. In that case, try losing weight.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Get rid of your poor sleeping habits. Ensure that you get an adequate amount of sleep. When you work for long hours, you tend to get exhausted when you finally go to bed. When you are in deep sleep, the muscles tend to become sloppier.

All individuals get nervous or anxious at some point of time or the other due to a plethora of reasons. But for some individuals, anxiety becomes so frequent and forceful, that it overpower their lives. Most of the normal anxiety are short lived and the feelings may last for few hours. However, an anxiety problem becomes an anxiety disorder when anxious feelings are very intense and last for weeks or months. Anxiety disorder exists in different forms like panic attacks, social anxiety and phobia. The most common form of anxiety is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) during which an individual worries too much about everyday things and situations, both large and small. The person in this condition has persistent anxious thoughts on most days of the week, for six months. Moreover, the anxiety is so overpowering that it interferes with daily life and is coupled by noticeable symptoms like fatigue. The anxiety level goes to such an extent that causes a lot of dysfunction and suffering. If a person suffers from sleep problems and finds himself regularly awake and agitated or worried, then it is a tell-tale sign of generalized anxiety disorder. This is followed by a situation when one wakes up overstimulated with mind racing and one is unable to calm down. When the anxiety is tied to a specific situation and the fear is overwhelming and out of proportion to the actual risks then the condition is phobia. This can be due to anything ranging from crowd, animals to flying in an aeroplane or using an escalator. Muscle tension like clenching of jaw or fists or flexing of muscles though out the body always accompanies anxiety disorders. Regular exercise can help keep muscle tension under control, but the tension may get triggered up if an injury or other unforeseen event disrupts a person's workout habits. Panic disorder is repeated, unexpected panic attacks where one encounters panic in a situation where most people wouldn t be afraid. Anxiety also leads to chronic digestive problems like cramping and bloating of stomach. Social phobia or social anxiety disorder occurs when one develops an intense fear of being judged or embarrassed in public. People with social anxiety disorder have a tendency to worry for weeks leading to an event or situation. When and if they manage it, they tend to be deeply uncomfortable and are always judgemental about it. In case of social anxiety disorder, the anxiety is triggered by everyday situations like one-on-one conversation at a get-together, or eating and drinking in front of small group. The person feels that everybody is watching him and experiences profuse sweating, trembling, nausea and person becomes tongue-tied. These disruptions make it hard for the person to meet new people and maintain relationships. Panic disorder causes terrifying panic attacks when the person experiences a sudden gripping feeling of fear and helplessness which lasts for several minutes. It is generally accompanied with scary symptoms like breathing problems, a pounding heart, numb hands and sweating. Excessive fear of being separated from home or a loved one is separation anxiety disorder. Post -traumatic stress disorder is an anxiety disorder in which the patient relives a disturbing or traumatic event like a violent encounter, the sudden death of a loved one. An anxiety disorder affects the thinking, feelings as well as behaviour of a normal person. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is very common amongst women of reproductive age. This condition affects the ovaries and is one of the leading causes of infertility. Increased hair fall is one of the other effects of this disease. According to Ayurveda, PCOS brings the Kapha dosha that normally can be found in the upper half of the body downwards along with the Pitta dosha. This affects the Prana-Vyana-Apana axis. One of the impacts of this misbalance is a loss of nutrition to tissues including the hair follicles. Without proper nutrition, the hair follicles begin to die and fall off. Thus, addressing the Prana-Vyana-Apana axis is one way to treat hair fall caused by PCOS. Some forms of Ayurvedic treatment that can be used for this include: Sarvangadhara: This involves pouring medicated oils or milk or decoction over the body as per the condition of patient. What your doctor never tells you - This small girl who had had her third convulsion in last three days was now looking frail. Her mother, extremely anxious, asked me what can be done to immediately stop her convulsions. This hyper-mother had stopped all the epilepsy medicines of this kid few days ago. Patiently, I asked why. because I read on an article describing what your doctor hides from you , in which the author had recommended a particular diet of natural ingredients , she replied, adding the article said that all allopathic doctors give you medicines that will keep you sick for longer, so that they can earn more. It also said operations like joint replacements or procedures like angioplasty should never be done. Needless to say, this lady was buying the purest natural guilt free products from that website, at a price that was way costlier than all of her allopathic medicine combined. I told her that it was a mistake to stop the kid s medicines, and issued her a new prescription. what do you do, mam? I asked her. we run a bakery, I sell exotic cakes, muffins etc. she replied. do you lie to your customers? do you sell them products that will harm or kill them? I asked. no, never! how will my business run then? we have to obtain licenses for food quality. she retorted. it is the same about us doctors, mam. All the medicines, stents and joints that your article has slammed, are approved by government, and additionally, they are scientific products, not just claims. The government also earns tax on each medicine, stent or joint sold in india . I was offended somewhere, and so continued: we come from similar families as yours, mam. Even our parents teach us culture, compassion and good habits just as yours do. We doctors learn in the same schools as you, and common school teachers have taught us the importance of good. We too have parents, spouses and family, kids whom we teach good values by practice. Why will such doctors hide the truth from you and suggest you something that will harm you, who have come to us in good faith? do you presume that all of the thousands of brilliant patriotic doctors will hide a cure from patients, and continue to let people suffer? just because some bakery is selling rotten cakes, how would you like someone badmouthing your bakery, your integrity? not you doctor, but not all doctors are like you she said. thank you for your faith mam, but I know that most doctors are like myself, who have struggled hard to achieve their degrees, to be able to save lives and bring an end to the suffering of millions. It is not an easy task, there are many easier ways to earn money with lesser hard work and sacrifice. You will rarely find the children of stars, sportsmen, industrialists and other ultra rich becoming doctors, no one wants so much hard work for such less money. we cannot advertise, while most of the alternative medicine companies, gurus and babas keep on blatantly claiming cures for incurable diseases, spreading rumors about allopathy and some other recognised pathies, cleverly selling their own products to desperate patients who hope for relief, and spend far more in the wrong direction. Look at who all is earning crores while claiming that allopathic doctors are cheating people . She said she agreed, and won t interfere with the right treatment of her child now onwards. This is a complication of a deliberate and sick propaganda which has been orchestrated to tarnish the image of especially allopathic doctors, to be able to sell innocent patients one s own unscientific products. It is sad that the very people who complain about the consultation charges of qualified doctors go and buy extremely costly magic remedies like some unproven, unscientific laser instruments, vibrators, garments, herbals, extracts etc. The fact that vegetables and fruits are costlier than many medicines, that weekly vegetable expenses or family dinners in india are far more pricey than a specialist s consultation which can be obtained urgently, speak a lot about where we stand. In the developed western world, there are year-long waiting lists to see most specialists. The fact that indian doctors are the best and hardest working is appreciated all over the world, but so many indian gurus, babas and fraudulent quacks run campaigns against our own doctors, in our own country! Want to really know what the doctor doesn t tell you. A doctor never tells you to go to herbal babas when you come to the emergency and need immediate attention. A doctor never asks you to take your lot to the websites that slam medical profession, when you need help. A doctor never abandons even a faithless and arrogant ignoramus, does not ask them to go search internet for blogs and natural remedies when someone is dying of a heart attack or a stroke or accident. While many recent fulminant ads claim that all doctors are greedy and deceptive, there are thousands of doctors in the hospitals all over world, who are not eating, sleeping or being with their family right now: not because they want more money, but because many will die if we don t work hard. It is so sad that this had to be explained in india! What a doctor really doesn t tell you is: how difficult it is to treat and to save lives of the very people who have no faith in the one trying to do them good!

Hi, Please follow these tips to stop snoring: - Reduce your weight if you are obese. - Perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - Quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - Quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - Sleep on sides instead on back. - Elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - Clear the nose before going to bed. - Establish regular sleep pattern. - Keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - Perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - Anti snoring appliances can also be used.

Deep breathing, pranayam and less food. Means light Satvic food in lesser qty. I suggest you to get nasal anti snoring oil prepared specially. If it responds slightest, pl continue it for six months. But it's pungent
