-jaundice is yellowish discolouration of the white part of the eyes. It occurs because of raised yellowish pigment, bilirubin in the blood circulation.

- bilirubin in circulation rises due to various causes one of the common causes we know are related to hepatitis which commonly occurs due to viral infection. Apart from that there are various other causes which are responsible for elevated circulating bilirubin.

- these causes me include gallstones stuck in the bile duct, cancers causing obstruction to bile duct or occupying big chunk of liver to cause it to dysfunction. Excessive destruction of red blood cells may cause a type of jaundice.

- treatment of the jaundice depends on the cause for it. Broadly patient with jaundice if they are non diabetic, they are advised to take high glucose diet.
