Though I don't feel energetic and enthusiastic as before. Feelings of guilt pour in. What should I do. I do yoga daily. Have stopped etizolam on my own as it is for short term I came to know. I have to prepare for cat exam. Everyone says that I should not take medications at such young age.

Dear Lybrate user, it must be tough going through anxiety and depression. It is not advisable to stop psychiatric medications on your own. Please consult a psychiatrist with regards to your medications. I would also suggest that you go for for psychological counseling/ therapy as well. A combination of medication and therapy works best. Therapy will help you manage your anxiety and depression with certain strategies, techniques and skills. Once you are able to manage independently you can also reduce your dependence on medications as well. Especially cognitive behaviour therapy is proven and widely used to treat anxiety and depression. Therapy will also help you in the long term, as it goes to the root of your concern and deals with it. Please consult a psychologist. Regards, aaradhana reddy counselling psychologist.
